Surface Preparation

Ensure the pipework is clean and free of paint, rust, and grime.

Use grit blasting or grind with a coarse wheel or abrasive disk pad to roughen the surface, improving adhesion.

Mixing the Epoxy

Combine the Base and Activator in the instructed ratio provided with the product.

Mix thoroughly until the components are fully blended to activate the epoxy.

Application

Use a putty knife to spread the epoxy paste over the damaged or weakened area of the pipework.

Press the paste firmly into the surface to ensure maximum contact and avoid trapping air bubbles.

Reinforcement

Immediately after applying UPS ThistleBond Metal Repair Paste, wrap a UPS ThistleBond / ASME Emergency Pipe Repair Bandage over the repair area.

Wet the bandage to activate its resin and wrap tightly around the pipework, smoothing as you go.
